A 1980's Commodore 64 classic, reimagined from the ground up for the modern Apple ecosystem using Swift and SwiftUI.

The Challenge

How do you take a game defined by 8-bit limitations and make it feel "premium" on a ProMotion iPad display? The core challenge was preserving the nostalgic "clunk" and charm of the C64 original while introducing modern engagement loops like daily global challenges and haptic feedback.

Modernizing the Retro

Instead of a simple port, we rewrote the engine in SwiftUI to take advantage of declarative animations. This allowed us to keep the pixel-perfect aesthetic while supporting dynamic screen sizes from the iPhone SE to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Daily Challenges

Integrated with CloudKit to provide every player worldwide with the same level layout every 24 hours, fostering a competitive community.

Haptic Engine

Custom haptic patterns that mimic the physical feedback of a classic Competition Pro joystick.

The Results

  • Performance: Solid 120Hz on supported iPadOS devices.
  • Retention: Daily challenges increased Day-30 retention by 45%.
  • Architecture: 100% Swift, utilizing Combine for real-time state management.
